A sustainable business relies on a high-performing supply base that mirrors the diversity of customers worldwide, expands the depth and breadth of innovation efforts, and brings new ideas and perspectives to the business.
As important to John Deere, doing business with small, diverse companies, those in high unemployment areas, and those in emerging economies helps improve communities and the lives of the people in them.
To meet those needs, John Deere maintains programs to find, qualify, and help develop capable small and diverse suppliers, and we encourage our suppliers in their efforts to increase diversity throughout their own supply chains.
- We include small businesses and diverse suppliers in sourcing strategies and major bid packages.
- We seek out capable suppliers through our prospective supplier database and by participating in supplier fairs and forums.
- We maintain programs to increase supplier diversity at each of our divisions.
- We host a supplier diversity symposium annually.
These efforts pay off. Last year, nearly half of our U.S. suppliers who achieved our highest supplier-quality rating were classified as small and diverse suppliers.
