WATERLOO, Iowa (November 19, 2008) — John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) will display six of its diesel engines at the POWER-GEN International 2008 show Dec. 2 – 4 in Orlando, Fla. The Tier 3 PowerTech™ Plus 6.8L and 13.5L and PowerTech E 4.5L and 9.0L will be at the show, as well as the PowerTech 3.0L and the Tier 2 PowerTech 6.8L marine engine.

The PowerTech E 4.5L and 9.0L engines are recent additions to the John Deere lineup of 60-Hz gen-set engines. While these lower-cost models offer Tier 3 emissions compliance, they also provide an alternative for customers in regions where low sulfur fuels are not mandated.

Product highlights:

• The Tier 3 PowerTech Plus 6.8L features gen-set ratings up to 254 kVA (203 kWe) at 60 Hz (1800 rpm). The 6.8L is a six-cylinder, turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled engine with full-authority electronic controls, cooled EGR, VGT and a high-pressure common-rail (HPCR) fuel system.

• The Tier 3 PowerTech Plus 13.5L features gen-set ratings up to 511 kVA (409 kWe) at 60 Hz (1800 rpm). The 13.5L is a six-cylinder, turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled engine with full-authority electronic controls, cooled EGR, VGT and an electronic unit injector fuel system.

• The Tier 3 PowerTech E 4.5L features gen-set ratings up to 161 kVA (129 kWe) at 60 Hz (1800 rpm). The 4.5L is a four-cylinder, turbocharged or turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled engine with full-authority electronic controls and an HPCR fuel system.

• The Tier 3 PowerTech E 9.0L features gen-set ratings up to 348 kVA (278 kWe) at 60 Hz (1800 rpm). The 9.0L is a six-cylinder, turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled engine with full-authority electronic controls and an HPCR fuel system.

• The PowerTech 3.0L features gen-set ratings up to 79 kVA (63 kWe) at 60 Hz (1800 rpm). The 3.0L is a five-cylinder, turbocharged or turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled engine with mechanical controls.

• The marine Tier 2 PowerTech 6.8L features a marine gen-set rating up to 200 kVa (160 kWe) at 1800 rpm. The 6.8L is a six-cylinder, turbocharged or turbocharged and air-to-seawater aftercooled marine engine.

The full lineup of John Deere generator-drive engines includes non-emissions certified; European Union Stage II; and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Tier 1, 2, 3 and Interim Tier 4 models ranging from 2.4L – 13.5L of displacement and covering gen-set ratings from 32 kVA – 513 kVA (26 kWe – 411 kWe).
