Ongoing World-Class Training.
The John Deere Training Centre in Boksburg on the East Rand, is a fully equipped state-of-the-art facility with a total of 5 classrooms and 5 fully equipped workshops.
In 2008, over 1200 dealer staff received training with 130 courses offered.
John Deere University
As part of our ongoing investment in world-class training standards, this global web-based system offers online web courses, distance learning courses led by a John Deere instructor, as well as the usual classroom type training. Dealer personnel can register for classes on-line, as well as track their training progress. John Deere gives international recognition for all JDU courses completed.
Deere Apprentice Academy
We appreciate your investment in our premium products and understand the need for suitably qualified dealer service staff to maintain them according to John Deere's exacting standards. It is for this reason that we are proud to announce an industry first with the establishment of the Deere Apprentice Academy in Roodepoort.
Together with our dealers, John Deere South Africa will ensure that promising young technicians are recruited and complete a 3 year SETA approved apprenticeship. This influx of talented young personnel into our dealer network will ensure the ongoing stringent standards set by John Deere will be met going forward into the future.
The first group of 30 apprentices completed their phase 1 and 2 training at the end of September 2008.
Operator Training
As part of John Deere South Africa's ongoing investment to supporting the products we sell, a permanent Operator Training Instructor is available to assist in the training needs of investors in our products.
The Operator Training Instructor has been certified as an Assessor and a skills program that will assist farmers to export to the European Union has been launched.
Operator training is available to all our customers who have purchased equipment in the last 5 years. Ask your local dealer for more details on the next training session in your area.
